Purple Rain at Carnegie Stage

Updated: Aug 23, 2019

Don’t know what to do this weekend?

NEXT Pittsburgh suggests heading over to Carnegie Stage to celebrate Prince and all things purple at Jump Cut Theater’s 10th annual Purple Rain Dance and Movie Party!

Susan Mazur, Board President of Jump Cut Theater, says the event was conceived of 10 years ago when Frankie Cosentino – Prince super fan and Jump Cut Theater patron – approached them about having a Purple Rain event. And so began a tradition. Operating without a permanent home for the last few years, Jump Cut continues to find venues to host screenings and live events for their avid fan base; Purple Rain is no exception.

Says Mazur, “We came to Carnegie Stage because we love Carnegie and all it has to offer with dining and entertainment. We have done several events with the Carnegie Library of Carnegie and Carnegie Stage. Also, one of our board members is Mel Luke of Quantum Spirits.”

The Purple Rain dance party starts at 7pm on Saturday August 24. Guests are invited to dance, snack and meet other Prince fans.

Consentino will be making and selling his legendary ‘purple chocolate raspberry’ treats in the shape of the Prince symbol, along with Purple Rain dance party t-shirts.

The screening with start promptly at 9pm.

Mazur adds, “If you buy your ticket on the internet before the event, you will automatically be entered into a raffle for an ‘80’s Gift Basket.’ The basket is worth over $300 with 80’s fun stuff, gift cards, wine and more!”

Admission $10. Tickets can be purchased at jumpcuttheater.com

Carnegie Stage is pleased to support this event. All proceeds go to Jump Cut Theater. Come on down, and let’s go crazy!
